Global Reparations Hub – Side Event to the 4th Session of the Permanent Forum of People of African Descent
The Role and Power of the Collective Cross-Regional Struggle for Reparations
Join the Global Reparations Hub
Date: April 15, 2025
Time: 13:30â14:30 EST / 19:30- 20:30 German Time
Across the globe, reparations movements are confronting the enduring legacies of colonialism, enslavement, and the transatlantic slave trade. These movements demand redress for historical injustices and the ongoing impacts of structural racism, inequality, and systemic rights violations rooted in those crimes against humanity.
To advance a shared global agenda for reparative justiceâgrounded in political action, collective power, and a decolonial approachâunity is essential.
This event will spotlight the Global Reparations Hub, a new platform led by grassroots movements of People of African Descent (PAD), with the support of Human Rights Watch. The Hub serves as a collaborative space to connect social movements, strengthen advocacy, and build a united global front for reparations.
Join us as leading voices in the movement discuss the critical importance of cross-regional solidarity and the collective pursuit of reparative justice.
Co-Sponsors:
Black Academy | Decolonize Berlin | Justin Hansford (UNPF Member & Executive Director, Thurgood Marshall Civil Rights Center) | Human Rights Watch | International Coalition of People of African Descent (ICPAD) | International Women* Space | Nama Traditional Leaders Association | Reform Initiatives | The Advocacy Team | The Armah Institute of Emotional Justice
