On November 12, together with the Reparations Hub, we invite you to the "Reparations Now!" conference at Berlin Global Village. From 3:30 PM (CET) to 8 PM (CET), international guests will discuss reparations, and at the same time, the digital platform “Reparations Hub” will be officially launched in Europe.

Am 12. November laden wir gemeinsam mit dem Reparations Hub zur Konferenz "Reparations Now!" in das Berlin Global Village ein. Von 15:30 bis 20 Uhr diskutieren internationale Gäste über Reparationen, gleichzeitig wird die digitale Plattform „Reparations Hub“ offiziell in Europa gelauncht.

The ongoing criticism of the Joint Declaration highlights that the German genocide of the Herero and Nama has not yet been addressed sufficiently. The lack of confrontation with this genocide, as well as the absence of serious apologies and reparations, continues to strain relations between the two countries and has therefore led to transnational alliances like #NoAmnestyOnGenocide.

The event, organised by the coordination office of Decolonize Berlin in cooperation with Afrika-Rat Berlin Brandenburg, is part of the anniversary programme celebrating '25 Years of Twin Cities Windhoek – Berlin'. It aims to raise awareness of this partnership and provide impetus for its future.

Kolonialismus wirkt sich bis heute in fast allen gesellschaftlichen Bereichen aus: Ob Außenpolitik Wissenschaft, Bildung oder kulturelle Institutionen - sie alle spielten und spielen eine wichtige Rolle bei der Verbreitung kolonialer Denk- und Handelsmuster und der Aufrechterhaltung kolonialer Praktiken. Auch die Geschichte der Sozialen Arbeit hat koloniale Verstrickungen, die bis heute in der gesellschaftlichen Reproduktion rassistischer Diskriminierung nachwirken.
